All those boxes of Bitesize Shredded Wheat how long will it take you to get through that lot Andere? Never heard of Ocado.

About six months, I reckon. OH gets through around 500g per week; I only eat Shredded Wheat very occasionally. I shuffled a few things around to make space and it's all now stashed in our store-room so let's hope Lucy K is alert and up to her job so we don't get visited by mice!

I've used Sainsburys and Tesco on-line services in the past and Ocado beats both of them hands-down in my experience - fewer substitutions, better quality fruit, veg and meat, one hour delivery slots, excellent customer service. They don't yet serve the entire country but they are growing so,if you fancy giving them a try, check them out and see if they cover your postcode.

It's mostly bright and sunny here but with quite a cool wind; Lucy K seems to be enjoying it; she's been out for much of the day. Hi Penny and all, Quite warm in the sun while having a quick weeding session in the front garden this morning, however a nippy cold wind faced us while doggie walking, was very pleased with those warm hugs Penny. We did have fitted carpets throughout until hubby thought it a good idea to have a purge and we replaced them with ceramic tiles and laminate flooring in the kitchen. The red ceramic tiles run through the utility and bathroom it makes very easy cleaning also look good, the tiles in the sitting room are a multi brown colour, with having a very hairy little dog it makes floor cleaning easier, apart from a couple of large rugs which need hoovering. Hope your hubby now finished the dining room, does he watch Rugby? Guess pussies will have had a scout around today before curling up in a warm duvet Keep smiling Penny and take care all.

Hi Andere, was just about to post and saw you had beat me. 6 months is not half bad and worth it in the long run, I can imagine the stock dwindling down as he gets through another box. Will have a look at Ocado and see if the have a delivery in this area, I usually use Tesco. xx

Hi Dita and all, horrible day, cold, dark and windy. Hope doggie stays warm, lots of hugs to help. Been rather busy, roast lamb today. Did a lot of laundry too. Shattered now. Hope pussies are nice and warm, kisses along to help. Got good reason to stay indoors now, mice watching. Take care all and keep warm. Hubby not really onto sport Dita, just that son takes his family to watch the Saracens and mentioned one of their fellows was playing for England yesterday. Having his afternoon snooze at the moment and then sorting out his photo box which came this week. Not looking forward to next week, dental appointment, Only a check up but gives me the runs. Hi Penny and all. Mouse watching!! Big hugs are here for you Penny, she had a quick walkies and now sat on my knee, it was too windy out there. Light meal for us, too many last night, realised a box of Thorntons from xmas needed eating. Made a pastabake. Did have a peep at Ocado it looked fine, did not register and couldn't find out if they delivered in this area but I know Waitrose do. Purrs to L Katt Andere. Hope you got all your carpet cleaning completed he'll deserve a spoiling, as if he never gets spoilt Good luck at the Dentists, got me cringing thinking about it. Keep smiling

Same as me! Like you, Andere, I used to have Tesco then Sainsbury and now Ocado. All food shopping is expensive and from the figures comparison every time, Ocado is no worse than the others, and sometimes with a great heap of discounts. I have a fortnightly delivery and get odd items in town in between. As a new customer late last year, I was impressed by the vouchers they sent (welcoming me!) As my fifth order was the pre-Christmas one, I was more than impressed to be sent their prezzie which was a box of Thorntons chocolates, normal price would have been £12.

At the outset, it was interesting how they 'obtained' my favourites list from Sainsburys! The ordering process is quite enjoyable, and poor old Sainsbury sent me plaintive little messages at first, re extra Nectar points if I returned! If I examine the Ocado slots for delivery, I can usually get a free one - showing a little green van that means they will be passing this way, and having free delivery is not something Sainsbury or Tesco ever made available.

My OH used to say Ocado were more expensive than the others - a statement based firmly on opinion rather than fact! Most times, I get an email afterwards telling me what I bought would have cost £x more at Tesco. I've never been given chocs at Christmas but, every year I get a free bottle of wine on the anniversary of the date I joined. I also bit the bullet last year and paid up-front for their Smart-pass so I can have a delivery every day if I want (no, I don't!) I used to look for the little green van symbol but was rarely at home at the times it was applicable so Smart-pass was the most cost-effective way of doing it.

Dita may find that they don't serve her area if Waitrose already do; someone I worked with was going to try Ocado but when she put in her postcode the answer was 'No, but our partners at Waitrose serve your address; why not visit their website?'

It's just about dark now but I'm not sure it ever really got light today, just grey, grey, grey and a horrible gusty wind with a few spatterings of rain. LK is all curled up on a chair and may require dynamite to shift her. I've been marinating some pork fillet in a garlicky sauce all day so I'm off to the kitchen to make it into kebabs with some red pepper and mushrooms to scorch under the grill. Yum!

Hi Penny and all, work has started on our outside walls this morning, they are drilling the walls with great enthusiasm and I fear a large drill bit will arrive and attack me any minute. Poor doggie needs your hugs today Penny, she doesn't know if she's coming or going, can we come to yours for a couple of days? please. Have you a spare mouse around for L Katt to pursue, sure as you remarked above that would wake her up alright. We do not have a Waitrose in our town but they have started delivery in our area and I did register with them a few weeks back, have not yet done an order. It is likely that as you pointed out Andere & Viv that they have not arrived here. Good luck at the dentists tomorrow Penny, keep smiling even a little grimace acceptable. And take care all.xx

Hi Dita, thought you might be busy today. Hope the weather is better than here, so miserable and dull. A little rain too. Big hugs with extra ones to help out with doggie today. Must be awful worrying for her. Yes, we have two spare bedrooms here but thinking it over I don't think you would like the boss. Only one who would settle with him is doggie. For some reason, we keep getting a power cut. Only a second or two but disrupts every thing. For your hubby Dita and anyone else interested in photography, I was sent a new WWW today for the Camera Postal club. At least anyone can now see what it is all about. (Damn. just had another cut, that is two in the space of 10 mins.) Give kisses to pussies, if the weather is like it is here they will be in all day, pretending to sleep. Hi Penny and all, nice and sunny here today, at least it is dry for the workmen working on the walls, they are erecting scaffolding, drilling the walls etc, guess they will be at it all week. Hope all ok at the dentist today Penny we are sending you big hugs to help you on your way as we go for walkies. Hubby at chest clinic as I write, we had to be organised today instead of our usual taking in it easy. Hi Dita, terrible weather here today, so bad, no birds until 5 mins. ago. Still raining. Hope doggie manages o.k. today, lots of hugs speeding over. Dreading this p.m. Going to the club for lunch, last thing I wanted but hubby insists. Not pushing the photo club, just that they sent a note to hubby telling him about the new web site. True! Lucy K can catch the scent of her favourites when sleeping, waking or walking half a mile away. She can also hear the rattle of the Whiskas Cat Treats pack from several streets away. Lots of heavy showers today and quite windy so, after a brief foray outside this morning, she's dozing happily on the bed.

OH went out early to what he euphemistically calls a coffee morning. Well, it is - they have a guest speaker and a cup of luke-warm instant in the library function room then adjourn to the pub across the road for lunch, gossip and too much ale. Thank goodness it's only once a month because I'll get little sense out of him when he returns. This is an all-male gossip-fest and, last night, he was speculating about why none of their wives and girlfriends take part. Ye gods! When I pointed out that most women just wouldn't want to join a bunch of braying, pontificating 60- and 70-somethings with too much time on their hands, he didn't seem to understand what I meant.

Anyway, I've had a quiet time making soup and chopping veg for salad and making myself puff and pant on the exercise bike. Oh, and trying to get the pong of sour milk out of a carpet. Here's a plea for help, if anyone can. Several days ago, OH spilled a glass of milk on a man-made fibre carpet. He didn't realise he'd done it for some time and the room was very warm so it dried out before he did anything about it. Now, the room - nay, the entire house - smells like several babies have been very sick. Ukk!!! We've tried carpet stain cleaners, carpet deodoriser, various fabric deodorants and nothing has any effect.

Does anybody know a way to kill the pong or do I have to bite the bullet and chuck out the carpet? It's quite old but I was hoping it'd last until we move from here in a year or two. Any assistance much appreciated - thanks!

Hope the dentist was trouble-free, Penny and also that Dita's drillers are concentrating on the job and not writing their own horror-movie script.
