Hi, all and I hope you're having a good Sunday and that Dita's infection is clearing up. Where do you keep getting these things? (Yeah, I suppose if you knew that, you'd stop going there!)
Unlike some people suspect, I haven't been under the duvet for the last 3 days

, just busy and kept getting sidetracked from my PC. Friday was a lovely, sunny day which was good as we were invited to the official opening of the newly renovated and replanted Avenue of Remembrance and Home Front Garden at Wickford. The reasons for the invitation are a little complicated but it was a real privilege to be there with OH and a friend from the Transport Trust as the Lord Lieutenant of Essex in all his ceremonial kit did the honours. I'd hoped he was going to use his ceremonial sword to cut a ribbon (!) but, alas, he merely lifted a flag from a plaque. Afterwards, there was a buffet lunch and drinks in the British Legion bar so we came away feeling very well-stuffed.
Stayed at home yesterday and did loads of laundry and made a cauldron of vegetable soup because the weather was foul, hardly stopped raining for more than 10 minutes together. Today, the local Green Fair is on in the park and that's sometimes fun to go to and they have good bands playing through the day. The ground is going to be so boggy, though - no fun sitting on the grass to listen to the music or even walking in the mud so we probably won't bother this time. Instead, I'll sit here and try to plan a route for our holiday in N France and book some hotels.
Lucy K sends best wishes for dog-walks. She's quite frisky at the moment but keeps demanding to be dried off after she's been out in the long, wet grass. Happy birthday to Penny's OH. (I thought that business of watching TV with the eyes closed was a skill all men acquire somewhere around their 45th birthday?
