Hi, all. The sun is shining and I'm about to risk hanging out some washing - guaranteed to make it rain!! OH has gone for a blood test; Lucy K is still taking care of the duvet; I'm resting after a brief foray on to my exercise bike. I really need to get back into using that regularly. I used to be quite fit but now - hmmmmm?!

Some reasonably positive news from our friends in Sussex who visited the oncologist yesterday: the scans and tests show no indication that the cancer has spread and the tumour is in a reasonably accessible place and the surgeon is confident that it can all be cleanly removed. It's still major abdominal surgery but less complex than it potentially could have been. So, Jackie and her OH are feeling relatively reassured and the op will take place on 17th. So it's fingers and toes crossed for them.

Gotta go and see someone at the bank this afternoon. I still miss the old-fashioned bank manager; a reassuring middle-aged figure in a slightly worn suit and gold rimmed specs who always me me feel like a naughty schoolgirl even when I wasn't overdrawn. These days, it's some 25 year old whizz-kid with too much lipstick (if it's a woman, anyway!) who may be perfectly pleasant and competent but just doesn't convey that sense of comforting stability ... Or am I just getting old?

Hugs and purrs to all' take care and GET WELL, DITA!

Delighted at your news Andere, fingers crossed all will go well with the op. Hugs and kisses sent early, such a fine morning, Plenty of sunshine at the moment. Just prepared some bread and then off for weekly shop. Hope blood test is o.k. Do hope you are taking it easy Dita, You are not wrong about banking Andere, I am only too happy when I see one of the oldies I used to deal with. The young ones just sit with a smile, doing the job, Nothing personal any more. If that is being modern I will remain old fashioned. Take care all and have a good day. cheers Penny

Hi Penny, Andere and all, what a tonic you are for me you two lovely people, to pop in here and read your concern for me is very uplifting and I thank you so much. :grouphug: much more than I get from some folks I could mention. :ithanku: Good to hear that the news is more positive for your friends Andere, what a relief and the best of luck as regards the operation to them also your hubby's blood test. I see L Katt is in the usual place :sunglasses:
What a busy few days you've had Penny but all over now bar from bits and bobs as you wait for your daughter to take or leave whatever, could do with a garage sale here OH has many hobbies which lie unused in his junk room, which it is now, he has in the past been such an artistic person making stain glass lamps, enamelling, drawing and painting and all other kind of crafts too numerous to mention. TV and computer seems more important these days, such a shame. It was a dull doggie walk today so all hugs were welcome, came back to a bit of ironing. May not sound like it but I am still smiling :) like you Penny and take care Andere and all. Just been playing with smilies :roflmao:

Hi Penny and all, very hot here too little doggie was panting and pleased to get back for a drink of cold water, despite all the coughing and little sleep last night I feel bit better today so trying to rest and hope to improve more, sure your wishes have helped and given me a feeling of well being. My OH is-was very artistic Penny and as you say such a shame, think somewhere on Rowan I may have shown some of his work sometime. Hope you haven't spent time in that kitchen making Chutney instead of taking it easy with a cuppa and having a lounge, you have done enough this week. Anyway keep smiling Penny :) and take care all who pop in.

Hi, all. Bright and sunny here, too but with quite a lot of breeze so it isn't outrageously hot. The forecast for tonight though is very muggy and warm so I don't expect to get much sleep. :(

Not a lot to report today except I managed to save us a huge repair bill for the washing machine  . OH left a coin in his trousers pocket and it was clattering about between the washing drum and the inner liner. I think you can write off a washing machine if you just leave anything like that so I was pretty cross but before I called the repair man, I decided to try and tip the machine forward - it's free-standing, not plumbed in - and see if the coin would shift to the front and we might be able to fish it out with something past the rubber seal. Well, I tipped it until it almost overbalanced on top of me, then gently put it back down and spun the drum by hand and - hey presto! The coin somehow popped up into the washing drum as it rotated! It was only 1p; to think one penny almost cost us a couple of hundred pounds thanks to Someone Large and Careless not checking his pockets :huffin:

OH got a text from the surgery to say his blood test results are in and he should contact his GP about them - "Not urgent", so he says he'll leave it until Monday when he's going in to see the practice nurse anyway. If it was me, I'd be hangin' on the phone right away, demanding to know what was wrong because I'm such a hypochondriac. Which reminds me - good luck with the ECG, Viv and let's all cross our fingers no further action is needed. Mind you, I had an Echo scan once and it was lovely - they made me so comfortable that I fell asleep! Penny and Dita - get your feet up and rest. The weather's going to be rubbish tomorrow so no point in going anywhere. Have a quiet weekend, both of you, and may your bugs go away soon, Dita. :grouphug:

Hi Dita, have a quiet day you said, some chance. Did not make chutney as I hadn't got all the ingredients. Daughter came and took loads of stuff, said she wanted to go to Cosco when she had some cash so, as usual. I took her this afternoon and she stocked up. I told her I would pay so that she does not owe me anything anymore. Having filled a trolley, my bank account looks quite a little smaller than this morning. Still, can't take it with you. Sounds as though you had a busy day Andere. Don't over do it. Take care all. cheers Penny

Can just imagine what a fiddle it was Andere, not to mention the heavy thing you were tipping up would have loved to be a fly on the wall :) as you say it could have cost a lot of money and for just one penny. Hope OH's results were just something trivial on his return to the surgery.
Penny its always the same when a quiet day is on the cards something happens to scupper things, she's a lucky lass that's all I can say. Wish I had a daughter though. Seems the weather is spoiling for tomorrow, anyway have a good weekend Penny, Andere and all.

Morning Dita and all, do hope all is well now Dita, hugs and kisses sent with a lot of sunshine. Out for lunch today, makes a change, OH still complaining about aches and pains. Daughter did suggest he shouldn't sit about all day but of course didn't say it to him. Funny how their aches are important and ours are shrugged off. I think it must me the male gene. I trust every one else is O.K. Lovely and sunny here and quite warm. Hope this weather stays for a while. Take care all and have a lovely Sunday. cheers Penn

Hi Penny and all, Still on the up thank goodness feel I've had a narrow escape and must take more care of myself. I so so agree with what you were saying about men and their aches and pains, last night for instance was typical of what you describe, OH had been looking for something, everything had gone very quiet and I was wondering if all was ok and found him sat on a step, asked him if he was ok, terrible pains in my chest he said and I straight away went into great concern mode. Calling ambulance came to mind and all the stuff associated with heart attacks, whatever it was turned out to be something so trivial because it had vanished and was forgotten about in no time. Boot on other foot and it would have been of little interest :( . Hope you are having an enjoyable lunch Penny, hugs appreciated on our sunny doggie walk, keep your pecker up :) and take are all.

So pleased you are on the mend Dita, had me worried. back from a nice lunch, not the same as home but a change. The birds waiting as always when I get back, always bring stuff I don't eat and they know that. The lady the pup is quite happy to help me put stuff in a bag as she also feed birds. OH back in his usual. In agony, as he puts it. I didn.t make the remark I wanted to as you can imagine Keep on the mend and look after yourself. cheers Penny

Hi Penny and all, cannot believe you and I are in the same country, lovely sunny day for you and for us it is thunderstorms with a vengeance today, just get over one and there is another grumbling in the background waiting to pounce. Late online because of the lightening, some years ago I watched the house opposite get struck by a flash of lightening it went down her chimney and did quite a lot of damage. Hope all went well Vannin. Hay fever is horrid hope the count soon down for OH, as long as you keep smiling Penny :) and take care all.
