so sorry about the windscreen Dita. Forgot to mention same happened to daughter with her new car last Friday A lorry side slipped a big stone and it hit the windscreen directly in front of her face. Very lucky lady. She had to hire a car and the people coming to repair had to bring a canopy as it was raining. They ordered the windscreen only to get the wrong one next visit, forgot the canopy. She said they could bring it here and repair it under cover, got half way here, and found they had forgotten the stuff that seals it in. So instead of a couple of days she had to hire a car for a week. Thought all this would cheer you up.ha ha. Won't mention what she told the company. cheers Penny

Windscreen cowboys, or what? Hope I never have to encounter that lot and I hope your daughter's insurance covered the costs of the extended rental?
No wonder the birds are clamouring for food; they know winter has arrived. The chill-factor is really noticeable here now. It was lovely this morning when the sun was shining but the sun went in and the wind's getting up again and it's co-o-o-o-o-ld out there! LK is curled up in her own bed for once and I don't think she'd notice if a birdy jumped up and down on the windowsill shouting 'come & get me!'. She actually was a great comfort yesterday when I was so miserable, kept coming to find me wherever I was and having a little head-butting session and licking my toes. Feeling better today, thanks and have had a very productive afternoon sorting out my knickers and nightwear drawers and chucking out the stuff I'll never wear again. Now, the drawers will close properly. Such an exciting life I lead!
Hope everyone's warm and pets are snuggly. Have a good weekend, all. :grouphug:

Yes, it is nasty here. A group of people, for Wycombe Homeless Connection, are sleeping out in Wycombe churchyard, being sponsored to raise funds. The woman I know best who is there, looks quite frail and I hope she will be OK. This is the coldest night of the year.

Trixie is being very cuddly, very often. If she sees my lap waiting, then I must forget about plans to get up and do this and that, but give her at least an hour. She lays with her face pressed into me like a baby and yet I remember at the time of adopting her, the lady said she is not much 'into' laps yet but give it time!! Did not take long.

Touch wood, the nasties have left her for, hopefully eight months or so.

'Busy' week next week. Monday, out with the coffee group from my old Keep Fit, who get together every 2 months. Tuesday, the weekly morning with 'Movers and Shakers'. Wed, wait in for the Ocado delivery (Oh the excitement) Choir practice in the evening. Thurs, out with the weekly group of 'coffee morning ladies' over 55, and Friday, lunch for ten of us at a new branch of Bill's Restaurants. When I retired 13 years ago I felt I didn't know many people........the thing is, one has to go out and find them or they find you. When I booked the Friday lunch, the manager asked 'Is it a Christmas party? I said no and added 'We are a reserved bunch of mature ladies' (fib) He said 'Madam, if they are all as lovely as you, it is our privilege' (his fib). The Christmas lunch I have organised is December 16th in Marlow.

Hi Penny and all, we had snow this morning not a great amount but it was snow flakes for sure. Having a quiet weekend here too and agree TV is just repeats and boring stuff. Vannin you are enjoying yourself and good for you, what a line up you have for the week. Pleased to hear Trixie is itch free too. Hope you are still feeling more cheerful Andere and having fun on your tablet. Would like to bet the birds have visited for the third time today by now Penny keep happy :) and take care all.

Hi Penny and all, not a bad day although a bit nippy, hoping you have an enjoyable lunch today. Trying to get enthusiastic about writing on a few Christmas cards, then what to buy folks is a nightmare much too commercial by half these days for my liking, I'm a right groaner aren't I :) Dolly not so keen on her walk today think she'd rather stay in the warmth. Keep smiling Penny :) and take everyone xx

Dita, you could try my approach to Xmas. I've never had a religious reason to mark the occasion and about 20 years ago was so sickened by the mindless spending, pointless present giving and cringe-worthy parties that I just let be known that I no longer 'do' Christmas. I don't want or give presents, invite people round to eat too much food,; I send solstice/new year greetings to people I care about via Jacqui Lawson ecards and that's it. My bank balance and my waistline are much healthier than they used to be and I turn off radio and tv and spend a couple of days catching up on projects or painting the kitchen or whatever needs doing. It's a whole lot less stressful this way. OH has so far been happy enough to go along with me but I've told him I really wouldn't mind if he wanted to do the traditional stuff at a friend's home.

Very cold weekend here with frost and fog forecast tonight . I've stayed in to make a start on sorting out this year's photos at last :) .LK's been asleep the entire day and just woke up now. Glad to hear Trixie is so much better. Hope all is well chez Penny & with everyone else.

Totally agree with you, Andere. I have stopped sending out Christmas Cards although like you I have a Jacqui Lawson subscription but we do still have a family Christmas get-together and of course the grandchildren receive presents.

Morning Dita and all. Brilliant sunshine here after a thick frost early on. Hope all are well and beginning to cheer up. Just prepared lunch and watching the birds feed. Funny how many appear as I put out food. Wonder where they hide during the day. Can only see a few in the trees during the day but the smell of food brings them all out. Hugs and kisses for little ones, just the right weather for them. Take care all and have a good day. cheers Penny

It was really cold but bright here earlier but, alas, clouding over now. Not much happening - got some laundry on; waiting for a grocery delivery, and hoping the dishwasher is OK. It didn't wash properly but that may be because I forgot the detergent! I'm running it again to see what happens so fingers crossed. Hope all is well with everyone.

Hi Penny and all, hard frost on awakening brisk sunny doggy walk earlier. I have very hungry little great tits and blue tits invading around our back they are not satisfied with the bird feeders and expect me to put treats on the window sill --my own fault :) Andere I totally agree with you and am halfway already in fact we only need to buy pressies for 2 of our closest family and this year have bought them food hampers, but my Granddaughter is having a CD Player. I have a draw full of stuff scarves, gloves, and the like which have yet to be worn. Keep your chin up Penny :) and take care all xx

:fing: Hooray!! It's fine, thanks. Guess I had one of my dozy-old-bat moments and forgot the detergent. Ho - hum! Groceries are put away; OH has gone to the pub; LK has gone back to bed so I guess I'd better get on with something useful then ... :)
