Thanks, dita, Andere and Vannin for your lovely comments.

It's the Autumn Arts and Crafts Fare at the Community Centre on the 28th of this month. Our chairman is asking all of us to exhibit four paintings so I'll put that one in and see if someone wants to buy it.

Lovely Monika. I especially love the Marilyn Monroe sketch .That is brilliant.
I am also have a hobby painting, but don't do faces only scenes and figures. I use to paint in Acrylic but now watercolour as it's more of a challenge.

Thanks, mo for your comments and may I say it's good to see you back here again.

The Marilyn drawing I did sold a few month's ago. I've always been quite good at drawing people but it is only recently that I've joined the local art group as I wanted to learn to paint in watercolour. However, I dabble in lots of different mediums as well i.e. acrylic and pastel and enjoy trying anything new.

I love looking at others' work, perhaps you might put some of yours on the forum ............ people do seem to enjoy looking at them.

Hi all, I have no pictures lined up today .................. I'm just showing off :sunglasses:

Back in our April exhibition, the artist who came to judge the show chose my picture as "Artist of the Year". I can't put it on here as the light keeps reflecting off the glass when I try to photograph it. However, it does need to be reframed, due to a slight fault with the back of it and when I get it out to reframe, I'll take a photo then and post it.

Well done, Monika!
Sorry but I've only just spotted this post, hence the delay in responding. Many congratulations on your award and I look forward to seeing the winning entry in due course.

What an achievement. Congratulations Monika. So looking forward to seeing this painting more clearly.
I am so interested in art as I love to paint myself mostly watercolour and at Christmas paint scenes to print off and make cards for my family, friends and neighbours.

Thank you, one and all, for your lovely comments and good wishes for my accolade.

I was taken by surprise when my portrait earned me this award, but I know that another day, another judge would probably have chosen something quite different.
Nevertheless, I'm very pleased and feel quite proud.

I entered three pieces of work in the exhibition; Reunion: Return to Dunkirk (a painting I've posted on here earlier), my portrait of James Norton and this drawing of a lovely marine who lost his legs in Afghanistan. I was taken with the contrast between his fit upper body and his disabled lower limbs and it made me both sad and angry. ( It's quite a big picture to photograph which makes it difficult for me to get level)

Your drawings are amazing Monika.
I love to draw before I paint a picture where as some artists paint straight away which I find a little difficult.

I have always drawn people, mo, for as long as I can remember. I like drawing as I find it very relaxing but I wanted to learn how to paint in watercolour, so joined the art group when we moved here about 5 years ago.

However, I still struggle with water colour, and find it quite difficult, but I have a go at most mediums and, the main thing is that I enjoy all of them.
