Not A Good Sign.

Woke up at 06.30 today, but it was gone 09.00 before I could summon the wherewithal to get downstairs for a cup of tea (Those of a certain age will know what I mean!)

perhaps I should start doing what I used to do for herself when I seiiled her for the nigh and put a flask of coffee by the bed to give me a kick start.

Early in our marriage, OH and I agreed that, on weekends, the first one awake should get up and make tea. This resulted in the two of us lying doggedly in bed, pretending to be asleep, until whatever hour someone's bladder finally forced them into a vertical position. OH finally overcame the problem with a Teasmaid - a brilliant device which we've been using ever since (well, I think the current one is the fourth one in 45 years).
Every night, we fill the tank with water, plop a teabag in the pot, put mugs, spoon and a small flask of milk to one side and wake to the glorious fragrance of freshly brewed tea. :trink:
If you don't want to set it for a specific time, just wait until you wake naturally, lean out of bed and press the Tea Now button.
I truly believe, if we ever divorce, the ferocious custody battle will be about the Teasmaid!

Like Andere, we still have Teasmade by the bedside. 2nd one. Still have teapot from first. Neither of us are sitters in bed so ours only gets used for light and alarm. Might treat myself one day. Perhaps for one, Andere's idea is best.

That sounds good Andere. I suppose you could put instant coffee in the teapot and wake up to coffee instead?
Or you could get a Bosch coffeemaker and use the pods I hadn't thought of using mine like that.
My mother always wanted a teasmade until the time she could have lain on and made use of it and then she refused to have one.

We had a Russell Hobbs device from very early in our marriage, but after her second stroke it became impractical, of course, hence the flask.

I may have told this story before, but the actual pot was Wedgwood, and after many years it crazed, and we wrote to Russell Hobbs about a replacement.

They were amazed, and wanted it for their museum! They gave us an all singing, all dancing state of the art new one!

Didn't make anywhere near a decent cup of tea as the old on though!

The flask of coffee is a good idea if I was staying in bed.

I always wake up hours before Tony so I get out of bed and put the kettle on which I keep upstairs in my computer room, along with Kenco blue top coffee, coffee mate and sugar.
I make my coffee while the computer is firing up...

I am up and had my breakfast by 5.30am every morning. I cant lie in bed.
With only being able to lie on my back due to the pins broken in both hips I stay in my recliner because I can get a better and more comfortable position.
I dont have a teasmaid but I do have my hot water dispenser so that I can have whatever I fancy. I cant lift heavy kettles now.

Certainly, you could, if that's your morning preference.
