What are you eating tonight?

Postby caroljoyce » Mon Jun 25, 2018 5:34 pm

I can't be bothered to do much tonight. We've over eaten on our Weekend Warners holiday anyway. The food there is so nice..

Tonight we're back to reality - fish fingers & chips.

What's on your menu tonight?

We always eat mid=day lunch so usually a snack for tea. Had bangers and mash today with peas and sweet onion, followed by Sticky toffee pudding with cream. Hope you had a good weekend. cheers Penny

Chicken & spinach curry in the slow cooker - keeps the kitchen cooler than putting the oven on. I'll cook some rice to have with it shortly.

No evening meal tonight.

Had a pizza followed by strawberries and (clotted) cream for lunch so not very hungry (loss of appetite one of the effects of my new medication - I'm not complaining about that one! ).

It's cooler here today, a nice haar coming off the North Sea so managed to get my half shoulder done, with green vegetable medley and Maris Piper mash.

Also managed to make one up for tomorrow, so if the heat knock me out again I'll just need six minutes at the microwave!

Remember when we used to re)heat over a saucepan of boiling water and the kitchen was full of steam?

I've got some pork chops for tonight.
I'm going to put them in my slow cooker topped with slices of apple & cook on low.

They'll be lovely for tonight..

I've just put a rolled gammon joint, basted in marmalade and wrapped in foil, into the slow cooker. Later, I'll add a couple of potatoes and we'll have them with some braised red cabbage from the freezer. Mmmmm.

Apples belong in custard not on a pork chop, and marmalade on toast or dolloped in the middle of a bowl of semolina! '

So if I add to my previous post that the red cabbage was cooked with shallots and Bramley apples, that would cast me out into some dietary wilderness? Marmalade & toast = OK but a bit boring. Marmaladed baked gammon = sublime!

Oh, and lamb's liver served the Berlin fashion with onions and apple is superb, too. :sunglasses:
