I'm hoping he's left us.

The humane trap and 3 head chopper traps are still set but I give up hope of catching him...

Probably just the mild weather tempted it outdoors for a while.

He's back - Tony saw him earlier.
I read on the internet it's best to stuff all access holes with steel wool - if a pen can push through the hole - a mouse can.
I've just spent the last hour pushing steel wool down all the many little holes where pipes come through etc.

I reckon if he's trapped in the lounge with no escape he'll go for the food on the traps if he gets hungry....

I hope I'm not speaking too soon but I think the mouse has gone.
He hasn't been seen for four days - ever since I stuffed all the small holes & cracks with steel wool.

An update on my mouse. He hadn't gone after all - we saw him again a few days later and then last week I saw him in the kitchen.
How he managed to avoid all the traps I don't know - We had three head chopper traps and one humane trap.

Surprise surprise - we've caught him at last!!

There he was this morning - scurrying about in the humane trap. He's now still in the trap, in a carrier bag in the front hall and when we go out in the car later we're going to release him.
Well Tony is - I couldn't bear to touch it.

I hope he hasn't left any relatives behind....

Three cheers for the humane success! Years ago when the cats used to bring in live fieldmice and drop them :hide: we used to catch them with the childrens buckets and spades. Then we would drive mousie to the nearest public green space and free him. My husband said the only times he speeded homewards were to escape the vengeful mouse!

Shall we be able to see a little pic of this long term escape artist Carol, before he goes and enjoys life elsewhere.

Just for you Dita. Taken just before Tony took him out to set him free. He should be happily wandering in green fields now.
I feel good catching him the humane way and setting him free...

Thanks so much Carol you have made my day, it is good to see he can have freedom instead of been throttled and laid dead in a death trap. :bighugs:

Hope the mouse doesn't freeze to death now after being in the warm for a while.

Some people are saying my mouse is a rat!

It was definitely a little mouse - here he is again - picture taken from further away - not looking so big this time.

Hope you put a nappy on him. Mice and Co continually pee all day long...this leaves a trail that shows up under ultra violet light. Kestrels and the like unlike us can see this trail, which is why they're so good at spotting rodents from a great height. They don't spot the tiny mouse, they just follow his trail.
